Our Neighborhood

Albany is where we have been living since mid-April. It's a small town 17 kilometers away from Auckland. During the rush hour it can take up to one hour to get to the city. Other times the drive is fairly short: 15 minutes.
A few years back, Albany was just one big pasture. Within a very brief period of time, it became developers' paradise with new houses springing up all over the place. Our seven-house cul-de-suc is just one of many new housing projects that were born here recently.

Although I detest the commute and the sleepiness of this town, I appreciate the vastness of the green space, the close proximity to the countryside with all the livestock E's little heart desires, and the quiet...

There are a few good ethnic restaurants in Albany Village (5 minutes from our home), the library with a couple days of story time and two copies of "Barney" DVDs, but most importantly: a little park where ducks, geese, pukekoes (and other birds whose names I don't know) live.

There also is a small playground that E enjoys playing at
