Farewell Kiwi Land - April 2010

For those who have followed our posts over the last two years, it will not be a surprise that we are moving on. As beautiful, family-friendly, and relaxed New Zealand is, it is a far-away land... thousands of miles away from what we know, love, and rely on. Thus, we decided to leave the Land of Kiwis.

Seeing as the job market in the U.S. has not recovered quite yet, we turned our interest towards Asia. After some amount of energy and time invested in the job search, Eric was offered a position at a company in Singapore. With a resolve to give Asia a chance, we are embarking on a one-year contract.

Taught by experience, I am setting my expectations of our new home away from home really low: I’ll hate the heat, humidity, consumerism, “Kiasu-ism,” and the claustrophobic and sterile feel of Singapore... At the same time, though, I am excited about the myriad Asian travel opportunities awaiting us.
