Butterfly Creek

The other day we visited Butterfly Creek. Their website claims that it is "Auckland`s hottest new attraction hosting Australasia`s premier Tropical Butterfly House with over 700 free flying exotic butterflies, tropical fish, birds and lizards."

Well, the place was quite tropical temperature-wise and we did see some exotic-looking fish. I did not see any lizards but several turtles (or tortoises) were swimming in the little pond. I guess the birds they are referring to were the four unidentified chicks peeping away in the thick bushes.

Now, as for the butterflies, there were quite a few of them but I would be rather sceptical about the number. The butterflies were quite pretty and the experience made me think back of the times when I was a little girl chasing butterflies in the meadows and making little "houses" for them. The butterflies from my childhood were small and yellow, though. The wings of the ones we saw last weekend, had all the colors, shapes, sizes and designs.

I put together a couple collages. Since I had forgotten to bring my 300 zoom lense, I had to do some "photoshopping." Enjoy.
