Saying "Goodbye" to Carol and Sandy

At the end of April, Sandy ("Crazy Grandpa") arrived from the U.S. Carol and Sandy went to Australia for a week and then, before they headed back home, they spent a few days with us. We took them to Long Bay: a seaside reserve (15 minutes from our house) with a sandy beach, green hillsides, a flat grassy area with large shady trees and plenty of room to throw a ball, fly a kite or simply relax in the sun.







We visited the Auckland Zoo and found it worth buying an annual pass











And on the morning before Carol and Sandy departed, we celebrated Mother's Day. We took the opportunity to thank Carol for all the help she provided to us during our first month in the Kiwi Land.



We were sad to see them leave. Their departure really brought it home to us that we were alone in a foreign land... away from our friends and family.
