After we had successfully moved into our new home and felt somewhat settled in (still weeks before our container arrived from the States), it was time to start exploring the region. We thought that wine tasting in Matakana Coast Wine Country (45 minutes away from our home) would be fun. Following the Matakana Wine Trail, we visited a few wineries. We decided that the red wine of this region was superb and that the area was far from optimal for growing grapes for white wine.
While we enjoyed the wine,
E was busy...

Later he had some down time.
Between the wine tastings had traditional Fish and Chips... wrapped in a newspaper (Kiwi style).
And then, at the end of the day, we played on Snells Beach (situated on the shore of Kawau Bay).
